fearofpiggiesIt wasn't abnormal for Dib to go to various places on his own. He appreciated Sollux's company most of the time, but this time, it was really just to scout around due to widespread reports of disappearances and sightings of 'something', but nothing of substantial description. It was in the south end of the state, in the mountains west of Pueblo.
He drove down to the desert end of the state in a day, found a hotel and set up camp there, and once done, he called Sollux to let him know he had arrived. He also detailed his plan for his investigation the following day. Drive up the canyon, talk to some locals, and then wait for evening to really get a good feel for it, since whatever it was showed up at night.
Dib had, of course, the best backup plans he could ever set up. If Eddie and he lost connection for more than quarter of an hour, he'd alert Sollux. If he felt shit was getting hairy, he'd get to the car and let it armor up. If he was taken by a mob of hillbilly psychos, he'd flip out and act crazier than they were. It worked pretty well in the past.
The first evening went well enough, but he'd heard some exceedingly interesting witness accounts, and decided on having another day to follow up on those tidbits of information.
It was that second evening that Eddie alerted, "DANGER okay not so much danger, but uh. our bro's signal went distorted and cut off about ten minutes ago. I know he said fifteen minutes, but there's something real fucky. I tried reconnecting but something's jamming his signa-- INCOMING CALL!"
The call was Vriska. She forewent the chit-chat and got straight to the point. "It's not really anything I'd saddle you with, but y'know. I'm like, really not in charge of helping other sessions. But since I'm such a nice person, I'm giving you a heads up. That spooky dork you live with, he's kinda, y'know. Gonna die. I'm sure you knew that with your fun voices of the imminently dead shtick you have." She audibly takes a sip of something she's drinking. "Soooooooo, you're probably gonna need to get in your car right now. I'll send you the coordinates."
